I learned that creating a zine fest requires a lot of coordination. I would not have been able to create as wonderful of an environment as there was if I did not have the support of my team. The hospitality group was responsible for bringing zine artists into the zine fest to exhibit beside the students. We were also on call during the fest, grabbing snacks and water for the artists, and filling in at their tables when they needed a break. I was specifically responsible for being the lightning rod between our production group and Ms.Nuvia and Ms. Hood-Esparza. This mean weekly check -ins and email updates about the completion of the checklist. I think that I was able to manage my group and make sure that we were accomplishing the checklist, I think I could have done a better job of updating the teachers about what everyone was working on.
I think that the zine fest went along very smoothly but it dragged on for a bit too long. I think that zine artists and students alike would have been more energetic and enthusiastic if the zine fest lasted for about 3 hours instead of 10. Next year, I would say that the students need to think three steps ahead of what they are working on. For example, find more zine artists than needed to request to exhibit because there will be people that drop out last minute.
