About the Project
In this project, we learned all about the parts that make up atoms like bosons, protons, neutrons, quarks, leptons, and hypotheticals like gravitons and tachyons. We chose our favorite particle and we made plushies and trading cards out of them! I chose the Photon (the rainbow one) but I also made a Gluon (the green one) and a Higgs Boson (the grey one). We also learned about the different dimensions and how they relate to Alice in Wonderland.

These are my Plushies!

Physics ConceptsWe explored the different dimensions by watching a video that used complex quantum physics concepts, like wormholes, and time stretching and applied them to modern day New York. We also were comparing the different dimensions to Alice in Wonderland. These ways of applying really difficult concepts to everyday things really helped me grasp a better understanding of what we were learning. I loved working on the particle plushie because I enjoy sewing and I really liked making my trading card about my Photon because I got a more in-depth learning about one particle rather then basic knowledge of all of the particles.
ReflectionI am most proud of my plushies. I really enjoy sewing and being able to take my time to create my very own particle, was really fun. I don't think I would revise anything from this project because I really enjoyed myself. This project really changed my thinking because I never would have thought in a million years that I would be able to understand quantum physics and subatomic particles but I found that relating a complex topic to a simpler one, and really being invested in what you are learning, helps a lot with the comprehension of the subject.
