Science Current Events are a weekly homework assignment where we find a currently published science related article and write a paragraph opinion about it. This year I have chosen to write about only zoology related topics because I love anything related to animals and I love anything related to science. I have learned that 3D printing technology is something that is becoming more and more popular. 3D printing is something that has revolutionized modern science. Today, we are able to create robotic limbs, working organs, and even food. I have read countless articles about how this technology is used to help save lives of humans and animals alike.
My favorite SCE was about a cat named Vincent who received prosthetic hind legs. The link to the article is here (Kitten Gets Prosthetic legs, And a New life). Two new words I learned from this article were, culminating, and calcify. Culminating means to reach a climax or point of highest development. and Calcify means to harden by deposition of or conversion into calcium carbonate or some other insoluble calcium compounds. It is important to learn new science words because it increases our vocabulary and helps our understanding of the article. |
